An activity you enjoyed doing in your free time when you were young,本期我們針對這個話題給大家從網(wǎng)上尋找了一些范例,希望對備考雅思的同學(xué)們有所幫助!
Well, I’d like to talk about kite flying, one of my favourite pastimes in childhood.
Funnily, I wasn’t adept at flying kites. In fact, my kites always crashed. But luckily, my best friend Yoyo was a wizard at kite flying. We lived in the same neighbourhood, so when the weather was ideal, Yoyo and I would head to a park or a vast open space to fly our lovely kites. Speaking of this, my memories keep flooding back:
pastime 消遣,娛樂 n.
be adept at 對……
a wizard at ...
memories keep flooding back 回憶不斷涌回
One sunny day, for example, we were flying kites in a wetland park. It was a beautiful day. It all seemed effortless that Yoyo got our kites in the air. Our kites flew higher and higher until they became tiny dots in the sky. However, all of a sudden, high winds out of nowhere broke my kite string and blew my kite away. When I got home, I got spanked for losing my kite. Well, back then, a kite would cost a fair amount of money.
out of nowhere 不知從哪兒來的
Then, one time, Yoyo and I came across a kind man, grey-haired, wrinkled. At first, my kite kept crashing, and somehow Yoyo couldn’t make it either. Kindly, he came to help us and taught us how to hold the string and when to release it a bit. With his help, our kites finally flew high into the air.
make it 成功
release 放,松開
fly high into the air
Sadly, when Yoyo and I finished junior high, we went to different high schools and since then, we were both occupied, hectically preparing for one of the most important exams in our lives - the Chinese Gaokao, also known as The National College Entrance Examination. We’ve never flown kites ever since.
occupied 忙碌的
Now, as we speak, you may have noticed the once-popular activity has almost vanished from sight in cities. Maybe there’re too many high-rise buildings and too little open space. Or maybe people today are so obsessed with smart devices that they forget to go outdoors to have a ball.
vanish from sight 消失不見
be obsessed with 沉迷于……
have a ball 玩得開心,盡情享受
