When new towns are planed, it is important to build more public parks or sports facilities than shopping centers for people to spend their free time.

It is unquestionable that every citizen nowadays has opportunities to pursue diverse life styles independently. When planning a new city, it is important to balance residents’ lifestyles and city’s economic development. After careful consideration of the argument, I consider government should give priority to construct more shopping facilities rather than sports infrastructures. Therefore, the city dwellers can purchase miscellaneous goods.
First of all, shopping centers are filled with a wide variety of commodities that can meet the basic needs of people when they settle in a new city, like clothing, furniture and grocery. Today, peoples’ desire for shopping in their spare time has long been known to be the overwhelming reason, either for simple materialism or to compensate for emotional problems. In addition, from the perspective of domestic economic development, such commercial buildings can also boost the local economy and provide more employment opportunities. To be more specific, shopping malls nowadays are equipped with entertainment facilities or places, such as cinemas and restaurants. Thus, shopping mall will definitely promote economic development as it drives consumption. Meanwhile, more and more people are being employed because of the emergence of new positions after the establishment of the shopping mall. Consequently, building shopping malls has potential to create a robust economy with greater strength and resilience.
Admittedly, constructing sports facilities and public parks is beneficial for people’s physical and mental health. And there is a close relationship between the physical quality of people and widely used sports equipment or places. However, without free places and sports facilities, people often fail to consciously manage their physical health.
To conclude, I think building shopping malls not only promoting local economy, but also enriching people’s monotonous life. It has paramount importance due to a number of benefits for improving living standards. (295 words)
