Some people think the government should ban dangerous sports, while some others think everyone should be free to choose whatever sporting activities he or she likes. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. (2022/8/27)
It is universally acknowledged that眾所周知 such is a human nature to explore and experience the unknown, which leads to the fact that(以致于=so that)numerous people are fond of challenging sports events, such as mountain biking, rock climbing and scuba diving(深潛). Under this circumstance, an absolute consensus can hardly be reached whether the government should prohibit those risky sports or individuals have every right to(做---是天經(jīng)地義的)make their own choices. I will make an objective analysis of this argument in my following essay.
Some people harbor the belief that a great many virtues(好處) could be gained via undertaking those risky or demanding sports activities. To be specific, extreme adventures can be taken as an effective channel and platform to help players relieve their pressure and lighten up their mood, because the occupied modern life(緊張的現(xiàn)代生活) often deprives them of the right to seek relaxation. The popularity of bungee jumping(蹦極) accounts for(解釋) risky sports’ significant function in terms of reducing stress.
However, others maintain that governments should ban dangerous sports due to some existing problems. One possible downside is that some perilous sports activities might become the root of injuries and agonies, which sometimes disable players and even ruin their whole lives. Another adverse aspect is that some intense extreme sports are merely an excuse for violence. To illustrate(例如), boxing involves excessive violence and bloody contents so that it imposes adverse impact on adolescent television viewers.
From my own perspective, I side with the stance of the former to a larger extent, believing that the extreme adventures can act as a symbol of freedom. As a consequence, it is citizens’ elementary right to opt for his or her favorite sports activities. Meanwhile, some extreme sports can foster one’s skills, chasten one’s tenacity(磨練意志力) and forge one’s frustration toleration(鑄造一個人對挫敗感的容忍力).
As long as the government informs players of the danger hidden behind the sports in advance, whether individuals choose to participate in them or not depends on themselves.
