#What do the young in China talk about generally? / what do friends talk about, why?

The young in China, especially girls generally

like to talk about the celebrities they like, for example, like the Korean K-pop group, all kinds of actors and actresses, and also makeup. Boys generally like to talk about sports, celebrities and also other stuff like technologies and electronics. Some young people also like you talk about history, and some other specific interests that they will talk with a specific group of friends.

#What are the differences between the topics people are talking recently and in the past?

There might not be too many differences,

but one of the most different topics that will be

mentioned nowadays is about technology and electronics since they were not that popular like 20 years ago. But stuff like studying, working and relationships are being talked whenever the time is. There might also be a more open view of everything that people are talking about.

#Do you think communication is important, why?
In my opinion, communication is the most important reason that people need to have a relationship. So without communication, people are not able to live. Everyone has a demand to express themselves, so having a friend to talk with is really important for mental health. So communication is really essential for human beings.

#Why do people make friends with those who are like-minded?
Of course people make friends with those who are like-minded, since in that case there are more topics that people can talk to each other, which increases the chance of communication. Also having those who are like-minded means that you share similar knowledge with each other, which means it is easier for both of you to enjoy the process of communication.

#How do you detect that others are not interested in the topic you are talking about？

Personally, by observing the feedback and micro motion that

others give me I can know how they like the topic or not. As someone who is into psychology, catching the micro motion is something that I am trying to do in daily life. Besides, paying attention to the motion of the others like whether they are on the phone or not is also a way to understand.

#What do you usually do if the others are not listening to you?
If others are not listening to me I will probably change my way of talking to them, and if they keep in that way, I will go on my topic without notifying them. Since I think everyone should take responsibility for their action. If they re not listening, that means my information is not useful for them, so that is OK for them not be listening.

#Do you think most people are good listeners?
In my point of view, in general, people are listeners in good behavior, but not the good ones. People who can give the feedback can be determined as a good listener but most people can only pretend they’re listening without having any interaction with the speaker, which means the ideas are not spread out within this speech. So good listeners are also valuable in today’s society.

#What are the effects that modern communication technology have on the face-to-face communication?

So multiple effects are modern communication technology act

on the face to face communication. So it decreased the frequency that people meet face to face. Since people believe that

they can see their friends face on the phone andthey can talk about whatever they want with social media.Besides,there is also a problem that those who are used to communicate online might act differently in reality.

#What are the differences between women and men on topic-choosing?
Women have an attempt to choose topics that are safe to talk to others, like something that most people like, for example, like makeup,clothing,and music.Men are more likely to talk with others about what they personally are interested in or things they are good at.
